Are They Hiding God’s Word in Their Hearts?

Written by our friends at Tyndale. This is a paid partnership.

Let’s be honest, Scripture memorization can be difficult and boring for adults, let alone for kids. Even if they do memorize the words of Scripture, is it really hidden in their hearts? Do they know the meanings of the words they are saying or is it just regurgitating syllables? The Word of God is powerful, but how do we get our kids to not only memorize words but also experience the transformative power of Scripture?

Enter the GO Bible.

It uses engaging graphics and kid-friendly content to help the truth of the Bible come alive in ways kids can understand. It has lot of fun features, like book introductions, colorful maps, intriguing profiles of people in the Bible, fun facts, and more, but one of the most impactful features is the Key Verse Challenge. This is not just about rote memorization. It makes remembering Scripture fun and impactful! With each verse, there is an activity that helps kids understand what the verse means.

For instance, here is the Key Verse Challenge for John 14:6:

“There is only one way to God: believing that Jesus is God’s Son and that his perfect life, death, and resurrection bridged the gap between sinful humans and our holy God! Design a maze and write Jesus’ name at every correct turn. Sketch yourself at the entrance to the maze, and draw a line through the maze to reach God at the end.”

This helps kids not only know the words but also understand the meaning of the verse. We are so passionate about kids hiding God’s Word in their hearts that we even created a whole book called the Key Verse Challenge that is filled with tips for helping kids memorize Scripture and includes tear-out flash cards with over 125 memory building activities for corresponding verses.

The GO Bible’s focus on transformation really sets it apart from other kids Bibles.

Using the complete text of the accurate, understandable, and audibly enjoyable New Living Translation, stories and concepts of God at work in the lives of his people and throughout his world are highlighted throughout its pages. And using engaging features like the Key Verse Challenge helps kids engage with and internalize what they are reading.

Are there other ways to help our kids not just read but also understand Scripture? Yes! One way is to help them know what to look for. Encourage them when reading a story in the Bible to look for not only what happened but also what changed.

Some Bible stories are about how people change. Others are about how God works in big and small ways to change the world. They show us what God was doing in the past and how he is still transforming people today. Stories aren’t just lists of things that happened; they’re about people and circumstances that can help us understand. The GO Bible encourages us to look for God and how he changes people’s lives in every Bible story.

No matter which Bible story you’re reading, here are four questions to ask and talk about:

  1. Who struggles?
  2. What do they discover?
  3. How do things change?
  4. What can I learn about God and myself from this story?

Our kids growing and trying to understand how they fit in can lead to deeper questions and conversations.

Though we want them to come to us so we can help them find their identity in Christ, it can also feel intimidating. We might feel we don’t know the answer or what to say. Understanding God’s work in the world is hard for grown-ups to see and comprehend, let alone children. And it’s okay not to have all the answers and to say let’s find out together.

The GO Bible can help!

It has an entire index that helps you find what the Bible says about numerous topics and themes so you can read the Scripture passages and additional content, pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal his truth, and discover the answers together.

Sometimes the biggest hurdle is getting kids to even open the Bible. They think it’s boring, or even if they do start reading, they get lost and start to disengage.

the GO Bible

The GO Bible was created to help kids know that the Bible was written for them, too!

First, it has the engaging New Living Translation text that helps kids not just read but also understand God’s Word. In addition, each book introduction contains a “Seek and Find” section with four important points to look out for in that book of the Bible. It’s a way to keep kids’ eyes open and their minds engaged. These tools help them learn how to not just read but also study the Bible. You are equipping your kids to know how to dive deeper into God’s Word.

The GO Bible helps kids learn how to read and study the Bible independently, but it’s also a great way to connect in God’s Word together. Kids can do mighty things! Equipped with the GO Bible, they will understand who they are in Jesus and their important role in bringing God’s transformational love to the world!
