Frequently Asked Questions
Practically, INCM Coaching is offered exclusively as a benefit to current members of INCM.
Members who are interested in receiving coaching should be:
- Motivated to grow (may feel stuck, but has a desire to get ‘unstuck’)
- Committed to the work (prioritizes meetings and the exercises they are assigned)
- Willing to serve the group (understands that the process is just as much about the group’s growth as it is about their personal growth)
Members should have the ability to access a computer or device with an internet connection, and will need to utilize Zoom.
INCM Leader Coaching was developed by leaders with education and degrees in Psychology and Coaching (Life Coaching and Leadership Coaching specializations). We have created a program that follows current and academically sound methods for coaching.
INCM Certified Coaches are trained in these methods, and have been through rigorous training in the coaching relationship and skills. Each one has been personally vetted by the INCM staff. In addition, INCM Certified Coaches have extensive and current experience in leading children’s ministry. In fact, most of our coaches currently serve as church staff. Their unique ability to apply coaching methods to the leadership of children’s ministry make them a truly remarkable coach for anyone serving kids and families.
The INCM Leader Coaching process is uniquely designed with the children’s ministry leader in mind. We have taken researched and current methods for coaching and applied them not only to a Christian leadership context, but to a children’s and family ministry leadership context.
The benefit of experiencing coaching alongside a small group of fellow children’s ministry leaders is invaluable. No doubt, these leaders will be “your people” for life.
No more than 6 people. They are intentionally kept to this size to allow everyone the opportunity to get the time, interaction, and attention needed to maximize the experience.
Groups will meet for eight consecutive weeks.
If you participate in all eight sessions and complete all exercises, coaching will take 2 hours per week for a total of 16 hours.
- Coaching groups starting in September will conclude in November.
- Coaching groups starting in February will conclude in April.
You can request individual coaching with your coach for a fee. Ask your coach about their availability.
The make-up of the group is based on the comfort level of the coach and of course your own. You can indicate your preferences in the details form, as do our coaches. Some groups will be mixed, others will not be. Please note, we do have more female coaches.
This will be an entirely virtual experience.
First, leaders must participate in an INCM Leader Coaching Group for a whole cycle, 101 and 102. Coaches are coached, and this is a critical first step in our certification process.
Our INCM Certified Coaches are encouraged to consider who in their groups might be showing aptitude for becoming a coach themselves. Anyone interested in becoming an INCM Certified Coach must have a referral from an existing coach to apply to join our INCM Coach Certification Program.
With a referral, leaders may apply to participate in our program. Upon acceptance, they must successfully complete each module of our program as well as the final capstone project and interview.
INCM reserves the right to not issue certification to anyone who participates in the program but does not successfully complete each requirement.
