One of my greatest opportunities as a children’s pastor was to pass on a love for reading God’s Word to the kids and families I served.
We tried everything to make this happen.
Our senior pastor championed Bible reading for every age group.
Our team created unique Bible reading plans that went with our curriculum scope and sequence.
Instead of always dramatizing the story, we would regularly read the Bible story straight from Scripture and talk about it during large group.
I scoured the iTunes Store for Bible apps to recommend to parents.
Let me tell you the secret I discovered about helping kids love reading the Bible. It’s simple but powerful.
Do you want kids to learn to love reading the Bible? Give them a version of the Bible they love that’s easy for them to read and understand.
Growing up, I loved Jesus. Loved going to church. Loved worshipping God. But I struggled for YEARS to love reading the Bible.
Guess what? For most of those years I was trying to read a version of the Bible that was aimed at a 12th grade reading level and I was 7 years old.
This is why I love the International Children’s Bible (ICB), a re-released translation aimed at a 3rd grade reading level.
Next Wednesday, I will be talking to the team behind the ICB about the translation and their new website, kidscanreadthebible.com.
Join us Wednesday October 14 at 12 p.m. CDT / 1 p.m. EDT for 30 minutes to talk about helping kids fall in love with reading God’s Word in the Finding the Right Bible for Kids webinar.
We have some serious giveaways during this webinar! We will be giving away Bibles, FREE registrations to CPC and one team registration to CPC 2-Day. Over $1000 in giveaways available – so claim your spot!
