Bridge is back… and here’s why!

“Be the person you needed when you were younger.”

I remember sitting in the room with over 100 other leaders when my friend Yancy shared this quote at the very first Bridge event in Chicago, IL. It has stuck with me ever since.

Can you just take a minute and recall what it was like to be 10 or 11 year old? When I do this, I am fairly confident I wasn’t entirely aware that I was a crossroads, but hindsight is always a little clearer, isn’t it? It was in this transition from child to adolescent that a lot of what I believed about God, who I was, and how all of that interacted with the world I found myself in was set in my heart.

And you know what made all the difference? Faithful disciples of Christ authentically living their lives for Him and inviting me to stand at their shoulder – teaching me, inspiring me, and challenging me to go farther.

As an adult, I’m acutely aware that without these faithful leaders… leaders who set aside time, set aside their silos to shepherd me through that transition… I would likely not be who I am today. They envisioned ministry to me and kids like me differently. To them, we weren’t something to be managed. To them, we were worth inviting into a deep, intergenerational discipleship relationship that spanned silos and roles and lines in ministry.

Friends, if you’ve been thinking about the tweens in your community, and your heart is captured by a desire to see your ministry to tweens soar to new places… places where you see transformation and unity yielding fully devoted followers of Jesus…then I invite you to join us at Bridge 2017.

Check out all the details for Bridge here.

You see, we are committed to reaching tweens with the Gospel. To seeing leaders be the person they needed when they were younger. To do this, it requires a team effort from church leaders like you.
