“Be the person you needed when you were younger.”
I remember sitting in the room with over 100 other leaders when my friend Yancy shared this quote at the very first Bridge event in Chicago, IL. It has stuck with me ever since.
Can you just take a minute and recall what it was like to be 10 or 11 year old? When I do this, I am fairly confident I wasn’t entirely aware that I was a crossroads, but hindsight is always a little clearer, isn’t it? It was in this transition from child to adolescent that a lot of what I believed about God, who I was, and how all of that interacted with the world I found myself in was set in my heart.
And you know what made all the difference? Faithful disciples of Christ authentically living their lives for Him and inviting me to stand at their shoulder – teaching me, inspiring me, and challenging me to go farther.
As an adult, I’m acutely aware that without these faithful leaders… leaders who set aside time, set aside their silos to shepherd me through that transition… I would likely not be who I am today. They envisioned ministry to me and kids like me differently. To them, we weren’t something to be managed. To them, we were worth inviting into a deep, intergenerational discipleship relationship that spanned silos and roles and lines in ministry.
Friends, if you’ve been thinking about the tweens in your community, and your heart is captured by a desire to see your ministry to tweens soar to new places… places where you see transformation and unity yielding fully devoted followers of Jesus…then I invite you to join us at Bridge 2017.
Check out all the details for Bridge here.
From 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on January 24th, you will experience inspiring general sessions with tween ministry visionaries Patrick Snow from Christ in Youth and Sean Sweet from FourFiveSix, refreshing worship with Yancy, practical and interactive breakouts, networking with fellow tween ministry leaders…And the best part? Bridge is an event within an event. That’s right- Bridge takes place during that first day of CPC17 in Orlando, Florida, which means no extra travel, no extra time off if you plan to come to CPC17.
If you register for CPC17 in addition to Bridge, you have the opportunity to experience the All About Tweens – Building Bridges that Strengthen Your Preteen Ministry breakout track to extend your training experience.
You see, we are committed to reaching tweens with the Gospel. To seeing leaders be the person they needed when they were younger. To do this, it requires a team effort from church leaders like you. It’s not just about children’s ministry leaders owning this critical age group. It’s not just about student ministry leaders leading this age group. We must work together. Bridge is an experience designed for you to learn from some of the most influential voices in tween ministry, and it’s also a place where vision and practical steps combine to help propel your ministry to tweens forward!
Let’s build some bridges together.
See you in Orlando!
