Announcing the CPC18 General Session Speaker Line-Up!

Our ministry calling often leads us to places where we ask God, “Why?”

It leads us to moments where we long for rest. We find ourselves at paths end- not beginning- wondering if this is really for us… we think things like, “Do I still have it in me?” Ministry can be so hard that we forget what’s inside. Our worth is connected to our Creator. If God is of great and inestimable worth, then human beings made in His image must be of great value, too.

And when we lose our way, when our eyes drop away from the horizon, we begin to look around and compare. Comparison is always the root of all inferiority. When you compare yourself to another….the way your ministry looks, personality, talent, giftedness… you will always fall short because God did not make you to be them.

And our God looks upon us – hears these whispered cries for help, those forgotten truths, and He responds with those same hands – protects us from a crumbling calling by allowing the beauty of His majesty to strengthen us anew, to allow our faces to radiate once more, for the work of our hands to bloom once more. And he calls us again saying:

You were made for this.

You were made for bravery and action. Honesty and hard work. Creativity, imagination, and storytelling. And these are the undertones of the song we will write together at CPC18.

We’ve been on the edge of our seats to announce the incredible team that God has brought together to lead us through General Sessions at CPC18! We could not imagine a better team of leaders to guide us through the theme of Made for This.

4 Tips to Prepare Your Volunteers for Sunday Children’s Ministry

Your volunteers are busy. Many of them are working full or part-time, taking care of their children. Attending PTA meetings, mom’s groups, or classes. Carting kids to soccer, football, or dance. Or are just trying to manage their household. Whether moms or dads, empty nesters, or college-aged kids, volunteers have a lot on their plate. AND they want to serve in your ministry. YAY! Before you jump to managing your volunteers’ lives, consider first how you can help them to lead this coming Sunday morning. Really simply, what does it take to prepare your volunteers for Sunday morning children’s ministry?

4 Tips for Including Men in Your Children’s Ministry

Like many children’s ministers, I joined the ranks by being an over-eager volunteer turned employee. When I was in the basement volunteering, only 1% of our volunteers were men. I didn’t have a male Sunday School teacher until I was 16 years old. It seems an unspoken rule that children’s ministry leaders are female.
