As children’s ministry leaders, one of the things we are passionate about is helping kids become life-long disciples of Jesus. We desire to show them how their faith in Jesus weaves its way through and transforms all aspects of their everyday lives. A leader who has done this for the Church for years is Pastor John Ortberg.

John is the senior pastor at Menlo Church in Menlo Park, California. He has written numerous books that focus on spiritual formation like: The Life You’ve Always Wanted, Who is This Man?, The Me I Want To Be, Soul Keeping, and most recently, All the Places to Go. He has also released a children’s book this year titled Your Magnificent Chooser: Teaching Kids to Make Godly Choices.

John was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois (Fun Fact: this is also where Matt Guevara, INCM Executive Director, was born and raised! Small world!) John attended Wheaton College where he graduated with a degree in psychology. He also holds a MDIV and doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Fuller Seminary.

Prior to joining Menlo Church, John was the teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

John and his wife have grown children, and they enjoy surfing in the Pacific.

We’re thrilled to have John joining us at CPC18 in Orlando! With John’s passion for spiritual formation, we are praising God for the way he will guide the community toward understanding how we are made for His presence!
