My mom leads the opening music time in her church's Sunday School program, and was delighted to see some children visiting on Palm Sunday. She knew that they had come to church with their grandmother, and that they generally didn't attend church anywhere. She really wanted to help them be prepared when they went to their Sunday School class, so between songs she told everyone that it was Palm Sunday and gave a brief rundown of the Palm Sunday story.
When the boys went to their class, they were very proud that they could answer questions. When asked what day it was, one of them answered "Palm Sunday!" When the teacher asked why the palm branches, the other told her that they were used to create a path to welcome Jesus. They were almost stumped when she asked what the donkey was for (Mom hadn't mentioned that!) ... but thought about it, and then with sudden inspriration answered, "The Democrats!"
