Script - "Treasures in Heaven"

This idea is reprinted from the Best Proven Ideas gathered at Children's Pastors' Conferences from 1990-1994.

"TREASURES IN HEAVEN"

CHARACTERS: DANNY DOLITTLE & DEBBIE DOMORE

(Danny does little for God, Debbie is always doing more.)

DANNY : "Hey Debbie" Lets be pirates and go treasure hunting. I've got a real treasure map. Timmy said he would help us. We'll be rich!

We can buy toys and clothes and cars for Mom and Dad and have lots of money. Lets go!

Debbie: I'm sorry Danny, I promised Mom I would bring some soup to Old Mrs. Tucker's. She's been real sick.

DANNY: That mean old lady. Tell your Mom to go do it. Don't you want to find treasure instead?

Debbie: I have treasure already. Mom says I'm building lots of treasure for me when I help others.

DANNY: Oh Yea! Where is your treasure? I've been to your house lot's of times, and I've never seen any old treasure.

Debbie: No Silly, not here! In Heaven!

Danny: In Heaven! Thats not going to do you any good here.

Debbie: Well I'll enjoy them when I get there. Besides your treasures won't last long. Mine will last forever!

DANNY: Oh yea! Who says?

Debbie: The Bible says so, silly.

DANNY: I've never seen that in the Bible.

Debbie: Danny, you never open your Bible. Here, It says in Matt: 7:19.

(Read aloud to class)

Danny: You know Deb, I'd be stealing it from whoever hid it, wouldn't I?

Debbie: Probably so, Danny. And beside, most of it might be all rusted too.

(Enters Danny's friend, Timmy)

TIMMY: Hey Danny, some of this stuff is all rotten. Ugh!

DANNY: Uh, Debbie, you think you might need a ride on my bicycle to Mrs. Tucker's house. I'd like to have some forever lasting treasure, too.

DEBBIE: Sure, come along. I'll even show you more ways to build treasures in Heaven!
