Kids Choir Idea for Small Churches

This idea is reprinted from the Best Proven Ideas gathered at Children's Pastors' Conferences from 1990-1994.

Small churches with Sunday Schools or Junior Church groups of 25 kids or less can sometimes have difficulty in arranging special program presentations such as Christmas or Easter programs, missions programs, etc.  Unless you have a vibrant group, songs learned can leave much to be desired because kids in small groups can be more easily intimidated in front of the adult church congregation.

Over several years we have enjoyed excellent success by using pre-taped songs from Kid's Praise, seasonal musicals, etc. Of course, the problem becomes what to do with the kids voices already on the tape.  E-A-Z-Y !! Set up a simplified puppet stage (if you don't have one), hand make a few puppets or contact "emergency services" of One Way Street and order a few. Get a few teens or adults to do some behind-the-scenes work with the puppets and include the puppets in your presentation. The voices on the pre-taped songs become the puppet voices and the kids sing along with all of this and sound like the International Children's 1000 voice choir.

The kids will be able to sing better, will be more comfortable by being part of mini-stage production and the adults will love it.

You can even further tie in the puppets by having one puppet interract with the adult directing the program and use this dialogue to introduce the program.
